We have travelled from Austin to Orlando. We drove, 2 brave souls with 3 teenagers in the back seat. Many electronic things blinked buzzed and broke on the way. We stopped in Biloxi on the way and stayed the night. We dined at the Beijing Buffet which was very good.
Next day it was back in the car for another 9 hour trek to arrive at our final destination. Our goal on this trip was to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which is a section of the Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios. Immediately after we checked into our hotel, we hiked it over to the park and rode the three rides in Potter land.
I’m glad we did it then, because we couldn’t even get into the Harry Potter section the next day unless we wanted to stand in a line that was 2 hours long, just to get a ticket to get clearance into that section. I guess there are just too many other Potter nerds like us that have made this small part of the park their target destination, and it just can’t hold all of us. I was on a mission, I wanted to visit Olivanders wand shop and get myself a wand. It never happened, lines after lines after lines. Alas, I did manage to buy some memorabilia in a random gift shop at the exit of a ride and I did get to taste a butter beer. Maybe some other time.
On the other hand, we did ride many rides. Most notably for me was the Revenge of the Mummy which is still my favorite ride of all the parks. One night we rode it 6 times in a row and it was great every time. We even bought a picture of our last ride. I’ll post it when I get home.
That’s right, I’m still not back home. I’m blogging from our favorite resting spot half way home in Biloxi. We got in last night and paid our fine friends at the Beijing Buffet another visit.
