Room Makeover Complete

I’m so excited today to say my boy is home and he has seen his surprise room makeover and he LOVED it. Check out his reaction:

Happy Mochi YumYum Quilted Sewing Machine Cover

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to win a roll of the new Lecien fabric Happy Mochi YumYum designed by the brilliant Monica Solorio-Snow (Happy Zombie). I was so excited when it came in the mail, because this is the rainbow that sprung out when I opened the envelope.

I was so smitten with the colors and patterns, I just wanted to look at it all for a while. So, I laid the strips out on my cutting table and moved them around to see [...]

Owl cupcake DIY

So, homework for next week’s cake decorating class is to bring a 2 layer already iced cake and be ready with a design of our very own to complete in class. This has me very excited. My teacher, Heidi, (who is fabulous by the way) told us to think of something we love and decorate our cakes with that in mind. So, I love owls. They have been springing up all over my house and on and around my space at work. So, with what we learned so far, I have put together a mini tutorial of my very [...]

It’s not too late [Japan Relief]

In case you haven’t been over to the Living With Punks site lately, she’s doing a Sew along for the kids in Japan. It’s a cute little project and of course it’s for a good cause.

Go check out her blog. It’s not too late to get involved. She’s even got some fabulous prize packs for all those who enter.

Halloween-the start of crafting season

That time of the year when the crafty get craftier.  It all starts with Halloween. There’s an easy way to spot which kids have the crafty moms at home. No store bought costumes allowed on my kids aside from some years when I let my darling son wear his spiderman and batman costumes. Other than that, it’s “tell mommy what you want to be and I’ll make it for you.” These days however, with one lovely child away at college and the other a full fledged teenage boy, I don’t much get to make kid sized Halloween costumes, instead, [...]

Truer words were never spoken…

I’ll tell you what I learned in the craft room this week. I know that I do not enjoy making purses, but I do enjoy making bags.

Not so much this…

Cherry Pie Cupcakes DIY

So, I bought this fabulous book over the weekend: What’s New Cupcake? It’s the sequel to Hello, Cupcake.

If you love cupcakes, do yourself a favor and buy the books. They’re fun to look at, even if you don’t want to make any of them.  This is my 3rd attempt at some over the top cupcakes and my first go at a design from the new book. I felt this was the quickest and easiest by looks and a perfect afternoon DIY for me and my mom to do together while she’s in Texas visiting from Pennsylvania. You [...]

Yudu Trial and Review

I finally got over my fear of the unknown and conquered my Yudu. I won’t say it was fun. Because it wasn’t. I found the directions completely lacking, but the freedom to design and “instantly” print it on everything that isn’t nailed down in the craft room is pretty exciting.

Full review and images coming tonight after work.

Bumblebee Cake Pops

So I recently read an article on Austin 360 about how to make those cute cake pops I’ve seen popping up here and there.

I decided today was as good a day as any to try my hand at making some cute little bumblebee cake pops. Why? Because I have developed a cute crush on bumblebees lately.  So, here’s a peek and a quick DIY on yummy cake pops.

First bake a simple boxed cake mix – let it cool completely – then crumble it into a bowl

Then mix in a container of frosting. Mix well.

Once the [...]
